Georgian scientists have made an antispasmodic cough medicine Georgian scientists have studied an endemic plant “Caucasian plush” and created an antispasmodic cough medicine. Mr. Sulkhan Sisauri, Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and Mr.Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University became familiar with the research outcomes of the project. The new medicine is designed for all age groups. For children specially, the drug has been made as syrup, while for adults as the tablets. The drug made from the Caucasian plush is used to treat spasmodic cough and asthmatic bronchitis. The research project has been funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. The Foundation has allocated 150 000 Georgian Laries to this 3- year duration project. The researchers are currently investigating the unique characteristics of another endemic plant “Kolkhian Holly”
