“Anti Soviet Narratives”

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s Director General Mr. Sulkhan Sisauri and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia have visited The Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, Folklore Division, where was held the presentation of new book “Anti Soviet Narratives”.

The aim of the project was to save and depict the bitter emotions and passions of the people under the Soviet regime; to save the information for future generations. The book is based on the materials. The group of scientists who worked on this project walked the different regions of Georgia to collect and save the information about the period. The project is special and unique as it covers researched and collected information from the people who were the eye-witnesses of the Totalitarian period, many of them are too old and many of them are died so we recorded their children, thus the project appeared to be very timely.

Within the scope of “Anti Soviet Narratives” project, the 3 part film “Anti Soviet Narratives” was shot and screened, the entitled book “Anti Soviet Narratives” is based on the information collected from the regions of Georgia, the book was issued within the scope of the project . Also, the bilingual web-site www.asf.ge will promote the popularization of the “Anti Soviet Narratives” not only in Georgia but abroad as well.


According to Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s Director General Sulkhan Sisauri, the project is very important not only with its science meaning, but with it’s historical sense, because it covers the whole period of the regime and decently depicts the reality of 20th century Georgia.
