Ancient metal industry’s specimens will be studied by new scientific-research equipment

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s Director General Mr. Sulkhan Sisauri has visited Georgian National Museum to become familiar with research device – nondestructive portable energy dispersive X-ray fluorescent spectrometer, obtained through the financial support of the Foundation.

New spectrometer enables Georgian scientists to explore preserved collections in Georgian museums safely, conduct technical analysis of ancient artistic metal industry and ascertain the chemical composition of jewellery specimens made centuries ago.

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s Director General became acquainted with an analysis conducted by means of spectrometer. According to his statement, one of the priorities of the Foundation is to support Georgian scientists in purchasing the equipment necessary for research activities.
