Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation announces the call in fundamental research

The aim of the State Science Grant’s for Fundamental Research is to support the further advancement of fundamental research. The best scientific-research projects for funding will be identified by means of announcing the open call for proposals.
Today, Mr. Nodar Surguladze,the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Mr. Sulkhan Sisauri, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation have presented the goals and objectives of the call to the Heads of leading higher educational institutions being invited to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
In the last years, fundamental research in Georgia was funded in the scope of State Science Grant Competition, although in line with international experience, Rustaveli Foundation has given to the call a new and independent status.
In accordance with the guidelines of the call the project’s duration should not exceed 3 years, while the budget requested from the Foundation should be up to 50 000 Georgial Laries.
Submitted Projects will be evaluated mostly by foreign independent, highly qualified experts.
According to the statement of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s Director General, research should be oriented towards theoretical and experimental studies-analysis of innovative ideas and concepts, while in the long-term prospect it should represent the basis of technical or any other types of progress.
Online registration of the projects will be available from 18 March 2011 to 27 April 2011.
In order to get acquainted with the guidelines of the new call, the staff members of the Foundation will provide consultations to the Universities and scientific-research institutions.
