Scientists explore the potential of Georgian trim stone

Georgian scientists have explored the potential of various kinds of natural stone existing on the territory of Georgia. Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation became familiar with the research outcomes.
Scientists characterize Georgian stone as having low-radiation and the best decorative and physical-chemical features. During three years, the researchers have been exploring and recording around 110 deposits of mineral resources existing on the country’s territory, conducting laboratory research and setting up electronic database.
Scientists intend to place the research outcomes in the internet. Dissemination of information about the Georgian natural stones will help to improve investment climate in this field.
The research project have been conducted in the frame of the call announced by SRNSF with the budget totaling up to 140 000 Georgian Laries. The project has been performed on the bases of A. Tvalchrelidze Caucasian Institute of Mineral Resources of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
